Develops new products for conveyor systems and applications, leads work teams, and mentors less-senior team members. Works on usually mid-sized, moderately complex projects


  • Conceives, designs, develops, and engineers mid-sized, moderately complex new conveyor fabricated products that add value and meet customer needs

  • Leads work teams and mentors less-senior team members

  • Performs engineering calculations to ensure a robust design, including horsepower, stress, torque, deflection, torsion, overhung load, sortation rate, cycle rate, air consumption, and amperage draw

  • Ensures that new products are safe, reliable and easy to maintain

  • Selects appropriate and cost-effective purchased products

  • Analyzes data to identify trends in usage, cost, performance, and reliability

  • Develops and executes test plans for concepts and prototypes to establish operational parameters

  • Uses modeling and simulation tools to prove or disprove designs

  • Partners with the Design team, Manufacturing, Quality Control, Purchasing, and Administration

  • Travels up to 20%


  • Bachelor's degree Mechanical Engineering or Product Development or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in material handling industry

  • Experience in conveyor systems with carton handling or pallet handing

  • Experience with Motor Driven Roller (MDR), Sortation Technologies, installation, project management, electrical, or EPDM administration

  • Knowledge of design and development of conveyor-related products

  • Knowledge conveyor equipment individually and on a system level

  • Knowledge of competitors' products

  • Knowledge of plastics, metals, alloys, and chemistry

  • Knowledge of design cost, budgets, and expenditures

  • Ability to use Excel to sort large data tables and create calculation tables and PowerPoint to create visual explanations

  • Proficient with MS Office, 3D SolidWorks, EPDM, and simulation modules

  • Ability to lead a team and accomplish project goals effectively

  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines

  • Ability to handle multiple project assignments and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced results-oriented environment

  • Strong organizational skills to meet project plans and deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to learn new technologies
