GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:Serves military and commercial customers by selling Horstman Group suspension products and meeting customer needs. Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on assigned new accounts or by developing new potential contacts through trade show and conference attendance.PRIMARY FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop new customers and maintain relationships with existing customers by exhibiting exceptional relationship management skills.Comfortable and confident using and discussing suspension and chassis technology; able to understand and communicate customer requirements to Horstman’s engineering team.Prepare and present proposals and other sales material, discuss contractual matters, interpret financial and program analyses to customers by demonstrating exception verbal and written communication skills.Prepare program plans in advance of contract award and support transition of the proposed program plan to Horstman’s Program Management team.Collect competitive intelligence and prepare competition analyses in support of market plan and capture plan development.Ability to verbally convey complex technical, program management or financial information in support of annual Horstman strategic plan development.Significant travel, both in the continental United States and internationally, will be required.Other duties as assigned by management.REPORTING STRUCTURE: The sales manager will report directly to the director of marketing and sales.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Skills):BS Mechanical Engineering preferred.Business / Commerce or a bachelor’s degree in engineering or science considered..2 to 3 years of experience in a marketing and sales position or procurement experience in US Government agencySpecial skills: familiarity with US Government acquisition policies, familiarity with US Defense system engineering, test & evaluation, risk management and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) guidelines.Exceptional written and presentation skills as well as detailed oriented analytical skills are required.Must be a results-oriented professional capable of undertaking independent work assignments.Must be proficient with MS Office tools particularly Excel, Word, and Power point.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following qualifications:Knowledge of wheeled and tracked vehicle suspension systems would be beneficial.Knowledge of financial management and financial analysis techniques would be beneficial.WORKING CONDITIONS:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the primary functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet, although the individual can be exposed to loud noise situations occasionally.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; walk; reach with hands and arms; and talk; or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands, handle, or feel; climb or balance; and stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND PERSONAL PROTECTION REQUIREMENTS:Occasionally required to wear safety helmets, safety shoes and safety glasses.
