Industrial Hygiene Specialist, EHS•Requisition Number:5336•Position Type:Full-Time Regular•Relocation Provided:No•Department:Environmental Health & Safety - L0431 (Indirect)•Location:Sterling Heights Complex (LSHC)•Education Required:Bachelors Degree•Experience Required:More than 10 yearsPosition Description:Support company's efforts to ensure compliance with all EHS program expectations and applicable federal, state and local regulations, and company policies and procedures. Support and maintain the site's EHS Management System (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001) program and registrations. This role requires the ability to gather and analyze data, then use it to develop recommendations and educate employees on specific EHS matters. Duties include:•Collect, manage and report EHS data for periodic EHS regulatory documents and metrics•Maintain EHS management system (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001) documents, internal audits, and related processes and program elements•Support EHS risk assessments related to jobs performed by employees, and develop and recommend risk mitigation strategies•Taking samples and measurements for Industrial Hygiene purposes and reporting results and recommendations•Support and assist others (managers, employees, etc.) to complete their safety and compliance responsibilities (audits, follow safety rules, etc.)•Support EHS compliance inspections and audits, enforce EHS policies and regulations, and ensure corrective actions are monitored and documented•Support waste management and disposal activities and ensure compliance with applicable RCRA and DOT requirements•Be familiar with and support SARA Title III reporting requirements•Be familiar with OSHA Fall Protection requirements and support GDLS' program compliance activities•Be familiar with Michigan's Industrial Stormwater Management requirements and certifications; Ability to achieve Stormwater Operator certificate•Assist with completing and documenting all regulatory compliance activities through the EHS Calendar according to regulatory deadlines•Complete, document and submit required EHS reports and recordkeeping information as necessary•Maintain SHC environmental permits•Perform Contractor / Service Provider Safety Briefings (EHSI C-9)•Support the investigation of incidents including HAZMAT spills/releases, employee injuries and near-miss incidents. Monitor closure of effective corrective / preventive actions, as assigned•Review SDS for new materials for approval for use within GDLS (EHSI I-03)•Support state and federal agencies such as State Environmental agencies, EPA (MI-EGLE, GLWA), OSHA (MIOSHA), NRC, DOT inspections and information requests•Support respirator fit tests (EHSI E-03)•Develop, deliver and support EHS / Safety Talks and campaigns•Perform other EHS-related duties, as assigned•Position may require travel to other GDLS CONUS locations.•Perform studies to monitor andassess employees' exposure to health risks, and to measure effectivenessof occupational health programs, policies and procedures•Maintain current knowledge of environmental, occupational health and safety and material transportation legislation.Core CompetenciesThe EHS Representative must possess a high level of the following competencies in order to be successful in this position.•Leadership / Sharing the Safety Vision•The EHS Representative requires the ability to communicate and share the tone for safety at GDLS.•The EHS Representative will lead by example and seeks out opportunities and techniques to further this goal.•The EHS Representative uses persuasion to gain the support and cooperation from stakeholders, superiors, colleagues, subordinates and other parties to achieve a desired course of action consistent with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.•EHS Scientific and Technical Expertise•The EHS Representative actively seeks out and improves, health & safety and regulatory knowledge.•The EHS Representative works with leadership to analyze and prioritize critical problems accurately and quickly; and is highly collaborative.•The EHS Representative works with leadership to analyze data, recognize meaningful test results, interpret results, and present the results in an appropriate way to different types of audiences.Time Management•The EHS Representative needs to use time to their advantage, needs to be able to manage a variety of given tasks, avoid procrastination, prioritize tasks in line with regulatory, department, company deadlines and goals.
