Position Description:

Key Job Elements:

  • Collaborate with design teams to include Human Factors Engineering (HFE) / ergonomic input into vehicle design development and eliminate System Safety, Occupational Health, Hazardous Materials hazards and Environmentally damaging material during vehicle design

  • Conduct, as required, HFE/Safety analyses to support recommendations for design changes

  • Evaluate customer requirements for HFE/Safety and determine vehicle compliance

  • Support System Engineering Department in development of the System Specification Document

  • Plan and conduct HFE/Safety testing, as required, to determine compliance to contract and/or System Specification Document

  • Generate, as required, HFE reports and Safety, Occupational Health, Hazardous Materials and Environmental Impact reports to be submitted to the Customer

  • Create and manage Hazard Logs, Risk Registers and conduct Hazard Tracking

Position Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in any of the Safety or HFE related disciplines or equivalent (Applied Psychology, Human Factors Psychology, Industrial Engineering, Human Factors, Systems Engineering, other engineering will also be considered)

  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment

  • Strong communication, organization and prioritization skills

  • Must be able to meet Anthropometrical Size Requirements for confined space

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools

  • Experience working withing a CAD environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Human Factors/Ergonomics or System Safety in product design

  • Proficiency with Human 3-D Modeling Software (JACK, etc)

  • Familiarity with Human System Integration philosophy & tasking

  • Familiarity with User Centered Design philosophy and approaches

  • Experience with safety and HFE related Military Standards (i.e.: MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-764, MIL-STD-1472)

  • Able to construct and update Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Event Tree Analyses (ETA)

  • An understanding of Functional Failure Analysis
